Too many New Yorkers waste time and money with health club trainers more skilled at selling sessions than providing exercise expertise.
DEFINITIONS personal trainers focus on one thing only: you. And unlike our larger competitors our size allows us the luxury of choosing the very best Individuals in the industry, all certified through the American College Of Sports Medicine.
Our training philosophy is rooted in exercise science not fitness trends. We incorporate the rhythm of exercise into the lives of our clients with a unique emphasis on strength training and cardiovascular endurance.
Like our clientele, there’s not a lot of turnover among our trainers. And understandably, our unwavering standards make becoming a DEFINITIONS trainer a long process. On a quarterly basis, we conduct interviews, eventually winnowing down an average of about 50 applicants to two or three exceptional candidates. Then, under the direct supervision of co-owner and training supervisor Garry Steinhart, the training begins. Regardless of prior experience and education, each new trainer must undergo a minimum of 160 hours of DEFINITIONS training. In reality, the education of our staff never ends, as trainers are required to attend seminars regularly.
The results of this training program are instantly obvious to DEFINITIONS clients. Professional trainers who are charming, but firm; focused, but accessible; proficient, but eager to learn more.
