our video introductions.

Definitions was founded in 1983 for New Yorkers who understand the value of total fitness but who haven’t been able to reach their goals on their own.
Almost all our clients consider themselves too busy to work out, but by working with a Definitions personal trainer they do work out regularly and have the results to prove it.

Our unwavering standards make becoming a DEFINITIONS trainer a long process. And like our clientele, there’s not a lot of turnover among our trainers. We conduct interviews on a quarterly basis, eventually winnowing down the pool to two or three exceptional candidates. Regardless of prior experience and education, each new trainer must undergo a minimum of 160 hours of DEFINITIONS training, and all are certified through the American College of Sports Medicine. The results of this training program are obvious to DEFINITIONS clients: professional trainers who are charming, but firm; focused, but accessible; proficient, but eager to learn more.
